Real Estate Investment Trust, REIT

A business trust designed similar to an investment or a mutual fund for the purpose of allowing investors to channel funds into the real estate investment market and whose organization conforms to the Internal Revenue Code which permits pooled investments in real estate and mortgages without exposure to corporate income taxes.
