New town

A large mixed-use development built in the early 1970s under financial assistance from the federal government in a previously undeveloped areas designed to avoid unplanned development as a live, shop and work community to attract population into less developed regions under a central plan and of which Columbia, Maryland and Reston, Virginia are excellent examples.
