English architecture

A design of large stone houses having Elizabethan or Tudor characteristics or of other English styles which frequently have slate shingles on gabled roofs, mullioned casement windows and wainscoted interiors. Authentic Elizabethan houses had exposed timbers between which there was plaster or brick morter as the structural frame although today the half-timbering is purely decorative.
